Who we are

Interfaith Furnishings is the combined effort of a number of faith communities in Randolph, NJ. We provide home furnishings for those in need  by accepting furniture donations from the community and storing them until they are required.

We bring together people of different faiths in a common cause. We provide a service to residents who want to donate and thus recycle "gently used" furniture.  These donations are a gift to those in need who could not otherwise afford to  furnish their homes.

You can help!

Volunteer

Our single largest need is people.  When we get a call for a donation, we volunteer  to pick it up and transport to our storage at Shurguard or our donated warehouse space in Dover.  When one of our agencies calls with a request, we need volunteers to pick up the items from the storage unit and deliver them to the home where they are needed.

We would like to schedule pickups and deliveries at least once a month on a rotational basis among the teams at each faith congregation. Usually this would require any individual to commit to no more than four times a year.

In addition, we need helpers to inventory and adjust inventory as needed; to communicate with social service agencies; and to make calls to those donating items to determine location of the goods and an efficient pickup route.

Donate

 Due to the size limitations of most of the apartments or homes of the clients, we limit our donations to furniture of smaller sizes -- sofas, love seats, chairs, end tables, coffee tables, dinette sets, bedroom sets with single, double or queen size beds, bookcases. We do not accept appliances, sofa beds (too heavy to move as many of the apartments are on higher floors).

We pick up and deliver in Morris County only, but will accept donations from outside the county if the items can be delivered to our storage at 219 Quaker Church Road.   In order to make a delivery, please contact us. Please provide your telephone number so we can arrange a convenient time for the delivery.

Financial Donations

We are asking for a $15 donation from those whose  furniture we pick up to help defray trucking and fuel costs. We also accept donations which can be mailed to Interfaith Furnishings,  c/o Mary Robbins, 182 North Rd, Chester, NJ 07930.

Transportation

Interfaith Furnishings is grateful to Budget Rent-a-Truck for providing us with a very good rate for our large truck rentals. But we need volunteers who have pickup trucks or trailers which we can use for small pickups and deliveries.  Call Mary Robbins at 973 361 1666 with any questions.
